Attention all classmates of RMHS Class of 1957!!!!
Our 55th reunion is just around the corner.
The Class of 1957's 55th Reunion will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 29-30 and July 1, 2012, at the newly renovated Holiday Inn Select, 15 Middlesex Canal Park Road (Route 128 exit #35, Route 38 south) in Woburn.
Friday evening will be casual with a "50s" theme (casual dress is required!). The menu will be consistent with popular 50s fast food, with a cash bar of beer and wine (soft drinks and water are included). The cost for Friday evening is $25.00 per person (tax and tip included). This will be a great opportunity to chat with your classmates and catch up on their activities.
Saturday evening's social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. and dancing until closing. The cost will be $50.00 per person (tax and tip included). Reservations must be received by June 1 using the form supplied in the letter of February 29th.; please mark your choice of entrée and make checks payable to the "Class of 1957 Reunion Fund."
Our Yearbook is included in the cost of the dinner for each classmate. The questionnaire also provided with the letter needs to be completed NOW and returned to Lorraine no later than March 23. A great deal of time and effort is involved in preparing the Yearbook - please return the questionnaire promptly even if you can't attend the Reunion. Our Yearbook is a unique feature of our class reunions, and for some classmates it's the only way they have of "keeping in touch." As the years tick away, it's nice to have this way of reminiscing, so let's have 100% participation. We'll even let you write your own information - just complete the first 3 lines of the form and write what you want to appear in 100 words or less on the reverse side of the form (please write legibly). If you prefer, send your information electronically to Lorraine at lollybill@cfl.rr.com. If you cannot attend the Reunion but would like a Yearbook, return the form with $7.00 and a copy will be sent to you after July 1.
A block of rooms has been reserved for those wishing to stay overnight at the hotel. Simply call the hotel by June 8th at (781)935-8760 or (888)465-4329 to reserve; be sure to mention you're attending the Reading High School reunion so you'll get the special rate of $125/night. Our hospitality suite (Room 310) will be open before and after the festivities on both Friday and Saturday evenings (beer and wine will be available. You may BYOB if you wish. Donations of munchies will be gratefully accepted. Many of us will also be attending the hotel's breakfast on Sunday morning. This is a nice way to extend our Reunion so give some thought to staying overnight and joining us (we'll take a count of those interested on Saturday evening).
The memorabilia table at our 50th was a big hit so we'll have another for our 55th. Please look through all your old photos for pictures/articles, etc. taken during your school years (doesn't have to be just high school). Include a description and names and send to: Barbara Ellis Machera, 17 Old Mast Road, York, ME 03909. Be sure to include your name and address so the items can be returned to you after the reunion. Have fun searching - you may be surprised what you'll find!
For those interested, we have provided a list of activities available during your free time in our letter. Please note the Tall Ships will be in Boston and the Peabody Essex Museum has had a major renovation. Be sure to let Lorraine know if there is anything else we can do to help make your stay in the Reading area enjoyable.
Keeping up with current addresses is not easy. PLEASE let us know when you have an address change; an email address will also be helpful. This is a frustrating job and we don't want to miss any classmate.
We hope you will be with us on June 29 and 30, 2012 to help make your 55th Reunion a smashing success.
For questions and additional information please refer to our letter of February 29th and find the necessary forms to reply with so you can be included at the celebration and in your yearbook. Or contact a committee member; information to be found on the "Contacts" page of this web site!
